Randall L. Earl, CFSP - 2011-2012 President

Randall L. Earl, CFSP, co-owner of Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes of Decatur, Ill., is the 2011-12 president of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA).
Earl has been a licensed funeral director for more than 40 years. He received his B.S. in business from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1963 and graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science the following year.
Earl is committed to the funeral service profession on both a state and national level. He has served the Illinois Funeral Directors Association in a variety of capacities, including secretary, vice president and president of the association's board of directors.
On a national level, Earl has held the positions of at-large representative, secretary and treasurer on NFDA's Executive Board, and was Illinois' representative to the NFDA Policy Board. Earl has taken on many roles within his national association, including serving on the following NFDA committees and work groups: Budget, Professional Development, Spokesperson, Advocacy, Audit, Preneed, Operations, Governance and Pursuit of Excellence®.
Earl has served as treasurer, secretary, vice president and president of the International Order of the Golden Rule, and is a past board chair of the Museum of Funeral Customs and Funeral Service Credit Union. Earl has testified on behalf of the funeral profession before federal legislative and regulatory bodies including at a U.S. Senate OSHA ergonomics compliance hearing, the Federal Trade Commission and, most recently, on behalf of NFDA before the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection in favor of The Bereaved Consumer's Bill of Rights Act (H.R. 3655). He is recognized as an expert in the profession and has been featured in a variety of newspapers and trade publications.
Earl has a steadfast dedication to the American Cancer Society. He is past chairman of the Illinois Division of the American Cancer Society. He currently serves as an assembly member on the National American Cancer Society Board of Directors. In October 2008, Earl received the St. George Medal of Honor, the highest award presented to a volunteer by the American Cancer Society.
